When a resident or business experiences a theft, break-in, hit-and-run, or other safety incident, one of the first questions is often, "Did anyone capture what happened?" The Connected Dutchtown Community Camera Network helps answer that question.
The CCN is a voluntary partnership between residents, businesses, and the Dutchtown Community Improvement District. By combining AI-powered security cameras with a community-based response system, the program makes it easier to locate and preserve video evidence following public safety incidents. Cameras, installation and maintenance are free for all members, sponsored by DTCID.
Footage Request Assistance
In 2025, the network expanded to 84 registered security cameras across 50 locations, strengthening neighborhood coverage and increasing the likelihood that helpful footage could be located when community members need it most. Cameras are totally free for network members, and are posted only in public-facing areas, such as facing sidewalks and alleyways. Network members have full access to their own cameras, while a trained community volunteers help perform video searches when safety incidents occur.
The Footage Request Portal was launched in 2025, and network members and community volunteers coordinated 22 requests related to incidents including vehicle thefts, burglaries, vandalism, and hit-and-run crashes. Relevant footage was identified in approximately 36% of requests, providing valuable information that could support victims and assist investigations.

At its heart, the Community Camera Network is about neighbors helping neighbors. By working together and sharing resources, residents and businesses can provide support during difficult moments and contribute to a stronger, more connected community.
