DTCID Hosts the 5th Annual Safer Dutchtown Summit
The 5th Annual Safer Dutchtown Summit brought together neighbors, business owners, community organizations, public safety professionals, and civic leaders for an event focused on collaboration and building a safer Dutchtown.
This year's theme, "Safer Together — You Are Not Alone," emphasized that meaningful public safety is built through trust, communication, and collective action. Community volunteers presented on ongoing projects, including the Community Camera Network Advisory Committee and the Safer Streets Committee focused on improving neighborhood crosswalks.
A highlight of the event was the Life Cycle of Crime Resolution, which hosted speakers from various municipal organizations to help residents better understand what happens after a crime is reported. 911 Dispatch and Crime Stoppers shared what happens on their side when safety incidents are called in, and Circuit Attorney Gabe Gore joined 22nd Judicial Court Judges Beth Hogan and Heather Hays to explain how cases move through investigation, charging decisions, prosecution, and the courtroom. The discussion also explored the critical role residents play by reporting crime, preserving evidence, cooperating with investigators, and building trust with public safety partners.
By bringing together residents and leaders from across the criminal justice system, the summit provided an opportunity to ask questions, gain a deeper understanding of how the system works, and strengthen the partnerships that help make Dutchtown a safer place to live, work, and play.
The conversations started at the summit continue through Connected Dutchtown's year-round safety initiatives, volunteer opportunities, and community partnerships. Together, we're building a safer, more connected Dutchtown.
