ReStore: A Model of Innovation and Circular Economy

But the heartbeat of Habitat STL extends beyond its construction sites. The ReStore, a mission-based home improvement thrift store, has become an unsung innovation engine. Through ReStore, gently used furniture, cabinets, tools, and building materials are reclaimed, repurposed, and resold at deeply affordable prices. Since its founding in 1997, the St. Louis ReStore has diverted over 77,000 tons of waste from landfills—turning trash into treasure and problems into solutions.

ReStore isn’t just thrift—it’s circular economy in action. Each donation, each transaction, each salvaged cabinet fuels a greater mission: sustainability, affordability, and opportunity. And the proceeds from every sale go right back into Habitat’s homebuilding efforts, creating a self-sustaining ecosystem where nothing—no material, no story—is wasted.
