Dutchtown CID Update: Flock Camera Program
After community conversations and Board review, the Dutchtown CID has begun the process of ending its contract with Flock Safety and will seek recovery of funds for unused services.
The program operated under stringent DTCID oversight and was intended to support neighborhood public safety. However, growing national concerns about this technology has affected community confidence in the overall Flock Safety system. During the entire time ALPR cameras were active in Dutchtown, there were no reported data breaches and no known data sharing beyond local use.
Because maintaining public trust is essential to our work, the DTCID Board determined that continuing the contract is no longer the right path.
This decision does not mean stepping away from neighborhood safety efforts. Through the Connected Dutchtown program and Community Safety Advisory Committee, DTCID remains committed to exploring approaches that strengthen safety while maintaining transparency and community trust.
